OUR PROGRAMS

“Personalized approach.  WILDD results.”

Here at WILDD, we never have the same program for any two clients.  We approach learning not from a tutorial approach, but rather from an educationally theraputic approach.  We develop personally-tailored plans that fit our client’s needs and educational goals.  When beginning a program with WILDD, assessment tests are conducted in order to measure multiple aspects of the client’s current educational status: learning patterns, reading, spelling, grammar and math deficits, and overall functioning level. These assessment tests not only act as a benchmark to measure progress and success, but also function as road maps to help guide us in building your own personal program. This process then kicks off the instruction for the client in the necessary academic areas that are determined by the initial assessment.  We pride ourselves in our personalized approach and attribute that to our WILDD success with clients.

Our current program options include:

Reading and Spelling

All of the reading and spelling academic remediation offerings at WILDD are grounded in the researched-based Orton-Gillingham method.  This method uses phonetics and a multi-sensory, direct instruction approach to remediate language deficits.  Instruction begins by focusing on the structure of language and gradually moves toward reading with each lesson building upon the previous.  The method provides immediate feedback and a predictable sequence that integrates reading, writing, penmanship, and spelling as one logical body of knowledge.

Written Language

In addition to reading and spelling, WILDD offers individualized instruction in all areas of written language. Clients are assessed and an individualized instructional program is developed to meet their specific needs. Instruction may include basic sentence and paragraph structure for those who need basic writing in the workplace to essay writing for clients preparing for higher education. WILDD also offers higher-level writing instruction that focuses on writing on a more abstract plane. The instruction of concepts such as the writing process, organization, and editing help clients to achieve a better understanding of the writing process and hone their writing skills.

Math

Any math level can be remediated!  Math is a subject that builds upon a foundation of previously taught and understood ‘rules’. WILDD does an assessment for each client to help reveal what foundational mathematical elements need to be learned in order to progress and succeed in higher math education. WILDD offers instruction in basic mathematical skills, math fluency, pre-algebra, algebra, math curriculum support, or specialized tutoring in a specific math course. Clients are assessed and an individualized plan is developed to meet the client’s specific mathematical needs. A client may need basic math to handle personal finances or pre-algebra to prepare for the entry tests into local colleges, etc.

Assistive Technology

Assistive TechnologyThough our program of instruction is designed to enable clients to read and spell independently, we believe that assistive technology can enhance learning and increase potential for success. Assistive technology at WILDD is any sort of mechanism that is used to increase the speed and efficiency at which a person can perform academic tasks.  Assistive technology examples are electronic reading software that helps clients read/listen to electronic files and voice-recognition software that will allow a client to speak into a computer to type a document.  Assistive technology can be introduced to a client at various stages during their program of study.  We train clients on how to properly use the technology to best meet client needs. WILDD offers in home, college, and work-site Assistive Technology Needs Assessments to determine our clients’ individual needs for support.

Computer Literacy

In today’s world, computers are hard to avoid.  WILDD will assess current computer skills and will then provide clients with the tools for understanding and operating a computer to better prepare individuals for technology in the work place and in school settings.

Curriculum Support

WILDD offers curriculum support that differs from the ordinary tutorial support offered by most after school programs, colleges, and other organizations. We provide specialized support with personally-tailored plans designed to close ecucational gaps, remediate deficits, and address specific needs while helping children and adults become successful in school.  We provide support for adult clients who are enrolled in academic programs at colleges and universities but struggle due to learning disabilities, dyslexia, traumatic brain injury, or other learning challenges.  Our approach is designed specifically for to help individuals learn to study, manage time, organize, apply reading strategies, apply assistive technology, etc.  We also offer support and peer counseling to help boost our client’s confidence and get through those overwhelming times that make them want to give up.

Distance Education

Through this program, clients at a great distance from a WILDD center will be able to receive services not otherwise available. The Distance Education Program utilizes the latest technology available to provide simultaneous multi-sensory instructional sessions, allowing the instructor and client to be miles apart and still conduct effective sessions face to face in "real time". As long as the client,  has cable or a high-speed Internet connection, services can happen.
